Cards that sell well for me at Christmastime are those with a place for a gift card. With many people not congregating for the holidays this year due to COVID, this type of card will be popular for those who will be mailing requested gift cards to family members.

Today I made six of these folding cards using some of my favorites products from the Stampin' Up 2019 Holiday catalog, plus one new stamp set from the 2020 Holiday catalog.

Stampin Up Wrapped in Plaid card

Items used for this project were:

Cardstock and Ink -   Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce; Whisper White cardstock.
Designer Series Paper - "Wrapped in Plaid" (2019)
Stamp sets - "Cup of Christmas" (2019) and "Wrapped in Christmas" (2020)
Dies - "Cup of Cheer" (2019), and "Layering Circles Framelits" (2020-2021 Annual Catalog)
Extras - Red Gems, Wink of Stella pen, Tim Holtz Alterations "Brackets" die

How to make this card:

1.  Cut a piece of cardstock to 5-1/2" x 11.
2.  Using a trimmer or scoreboard, horizontally score at 1-1/4", 5" and 9".
3.  On the short fold, use a 1" punch to make a half notch. Using a strong tape adhesive, glue the inside ends of the short fold and fold over, making a pocket.
4.  For the other end, use a die of choice to make a decorative flap.
5.  Cut two pieces of patterned paper, each 3-3/4" x 5-3-3/8". These will go on the outside and inside of the card.
6.  Cut a piece of white cardstock in the same size for the sentiment area.
7.  Stamp a sentiment on white cardstock and use dies to make a layered circle for the front of the card.
8.  Put a strip of foam adhesive only on the bottom of the circle sentiment. This attaches to the front and allows the flap to tuck nicely in to keep it shut.
9.  Use elements to decorate the inside of the card. For a coffee gift card, the Cup of Christmas stamp set and Cup of Cheer dies were perfect. Because a bigger sentiment on the inside worked better, I used one from the Wrapped in Christmas set from the 2020 Holiday catalog.

Stampin Up Wrapped in Plaid card
A lovely, simple card for yourself or your customers.

10.  Don't forget to take a few minutes to decorate the envelope for a complete, finished look.

This is a great template for making several cards at once, as well as using up coordinating patterned paper.
