Tutorial: How to Make a Simple Card

It's World Cardmaking Day, and if you are a scrapbooker who normally doesn't make cards, let this be my challenge to you to give it a try today using your current scrapbook supplies.

Join my Facebook group to get in on all the #WCMD2016 fun!

These Halloween cards were made using only cardstock, patterned paper, stickers, Thickers and a 1-1/2" circle punch. They were actually made when I was first starting to make cards, and I thought it would be a good example to show that anyone can make cards!

If you are a step-by-step person, here is a tutorial to make a simple card (using no stamps!) with dimensions, along with a sketch for better visualization and to pin for future reference.

1. Cut a piece of 8-1/2 x 11" colored cardstock in half to make two pieces that are 8-1/2 x 5-1/2". Fold each piece in half to make two card bases. 2. For one card, cut a piece of patterned paper 4" x 5-1/4" to adhere to one of your card bases. 3. Find letters that spell a short word for a sentiment. You can highlight the word by punching 1-1/2" circles and putting a letter in each circle. Add dimension by popping up every other letter with pop dots. 4. Add a strip of coordinating patterned paper or ribbon to add a little flair to your design. Cut the same length as your patterned paper, or you can wrap the ends of a longer piece around to the back of your patterned paper before you adhere it to your card base. 5. Add one or two stickers or die-cuts for embellishments. If you are using dark card stock, cut a piece of white paper 4 x 5-1/4" to adhere inside the card recipients can read a written message.
Give it a go! If you make a card today, share it over in the Facebook Group. Happy Cardmaking!!
