Scrapbook Process: "Star Party"

Today's layout was inspired by Pinterest.  I have more ideas pinned than I will every be able to complete in this lifetime, how about you?

I selected this layout to scraplift because it is simple, clean and classic. The pin is shown in the video below, but I also repinned it at this new board for the blog:

The photos were from a Star Party we attended, sponsored by the local library. Volunteers from the Austin Astronomical Society brought their phenomenal telescopes and graciously shared with the kids (and adults) the features of the night sky.

Society volunteers pointed out Venus rising as we waited for it to get dark, but the real show happened close to 9:00 PM.  Through their telescopes we observed Jupiter, along with four of its moons (we could even see patterns on the planet surface!), Mars, (not as impressive, but we could tell it was red) and the "star" of the evening - Saturn! Being able to see the visible rings on this glowing planet was really a treat.

On the finished layout, I added the Bible reference Job 9:9.  Thousands of years ago, Job was a stargazer who was just as impressed with the night sky, and obviously had a course in Astronomy.

He {God} is the Maker of the Bear and Orion,
the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.

God's universe is all the more majestic seeing it with the today's technology!

Here is the video of the scrapbook process for this layout.  You will see a special visitor pop into my craft studio as I was doing the video:

The products I used were:

Heidi Swapp - "September Skies" paper pad
Thickers - "Cinnamon"
Amy Tangerine Remarks - "Good Stuff" sticker pad

If you liked this sketch and decide to scraplift it too, please post a link of your project in the comments below so that myself and others can see your work!

Scrapbook Layout: "Nothing's Better" using Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper

With the new Stampin' Up "Pop of Pink" Designer Series paper featuring gold touches,  I had to try it out on a scrapbook layout!
This layout features photos of my new craft room we completed this Spring. There is "nothing better" than having a private space to spread out! (I now have a door to close clutter away from the rest of the house!)

Here is today's video that shows the products I chose to complete the layout, and the process. Scroll down to get a free layout sketch of my layout that you can use for yourself!

You'll see in the video that it was hard to decide: Pink? No Pink?  I'm happy with my final choice of a black, white and gold combination.  One of the banners has a little pink.  Just because.

Another look at the final layout:

And now, here is your free sketch if you want to replicate the layout:

Card Share: Scraplifts from CardMaker Magazine

Each quarter, I look forward to receiving my new issue of CardMaker Magazine. Not only it is one of the few printed card magazines still in circulation, but each issue has tutorials and card examples that even the beginner card maker can follow.

With each issue, I like to challenge myself by re-creating some of the card samples portrayed in the magazine. It is good way to revisit some forgotten techniques and add to my card stash.

From the Summer 2016 issue I selected six cards to lift, this time using all Stampin' Up products.

Listed with each photo below are the products used for each card that you can find in the new 2016-2017 Stampin' Up catalog. If I used a retired item (I used a couple), I have some perfect alternatives you can get to recreate the card.

If you'd like to see where I got my ideas from the magazine, plus a few tips here and there, scroll to the bottom of the post to see the YouTube video.

Don't forget to Pin your favorite card, (hover your mouse over the top left corner of each photo) and let me know in the comments what card you plan to CASE.

If you don't have your very own Stampin' Up demonstrator in your life, I'd love to be your crafty mentor!  As always, you can shop for your favorite products, in addition to downloading a free digital copy of the new catalog at my website:  http://angievallejo.stampinup.net.

Now let's look at each of the cards:
